More background on the Pension Agreement

November 15, 2019

The pension agreement raises many questions. HR mailboxes are full, also among employees and employers in the Retail trade. Together with INretail we organized a meeting about “The future of our pension”. Check the presentations. Then you are informed for the time being.

The most important outcomes of the Pension Agreement?

  • The state pension age is going up less quickly.
  • Until 2022 the state pension age will be frozen at 66 years and 4 months. After that it will rise to 67 years in 2024.
  • Abolish average premium
  • Choose from two pension contracts

Difference between the two directions:

  1. With choice 2 more freedom to turn buttons more / less risk.
  2. With regard to direction 2, pension entitlement is gradually built up after 30 years, with direction 1 this is done immediately.

For all two pension directions, we are currently working with a premium that fully covers the costs. In other words from 2022 a higher premium must be maintained (or / and accrual down).

Two pension contracts

From 2022, two new pension contracts will apply from which the social partners can make a choice.

Pension contract 1

  • Pension premium.
  • Immediately purchased pension and invested immediately.
  • In pros and cons.
  • Pension fund invests.
  • Solidarity: on investments (but may be required to differentiate between young and old in the allocation of returns), short life (survivor’s pension), long life and disability.

* Pluses and minuses are immediately passed on / no longer need to keep buffers.

Pension direction 2.

  • Pension premium.
  • Personal game.
  • In pros and cons and with individual choices for more and less risk. After 30 years of personal retirement, gradually converted into pension entitlements.
  • Pension fund invests.
  • Solidarity: on investments if pension is paid out and not for it, short life (survivor’s pension), long life and disability.
  • Pluses and minuses are immediately passed on / no longer need to keep buffers.
