Welcome to the website of Pensioenfonds Detailhandel. Perhaps against common belief, as a pension fund we are not in an ivory tower, but a down-to-earth organisation, based in Utrecht. Our main objective is a good pension for our participants.
“We aim for a good pension for all our participants”
– André Snellen, Employer Chairman & Henk van der Kolk, Employee Chairman
Anyone working in retail will automatically accrue pension with Pensioenfonds Detailhandel. The employee does this by setting aside a percentage of his gross salary each month. The payslip shows the exact amount. The employer also pays a monthly pension contribution. This way, an income is built up for the moment that the retail employee retires. This amount is in addition to the basic State Pension. This is a monthly payment that every person in the Netherlands receives from the government.
More than 32,000 employers are now affiliated with Pensioenfonds Detailhandel. As well as approximately 310,000 employees, 113,000 pensioners and 784,000 former participants. This means that the Pension Fund has a capital of 28 billion euros and is one of the largest pension funds in the Netherlands. In order to be able to pay out future pensions, this sum of money is partly invested in shares. Our basic position is to achieve maximum revenues combined with minimal risks.
The Pension Fund was established on 1 January 1972 and has its registered office in Utrecht. The last amendment of the articles of association took place on 15 December 2016. The Pension Fund is a member of the Pension Federation.
